It’s back to school – a transition time for many of us. Take advantage of the cooler temperatures and get outside, even as summer comes to an end. Keep your heart pumping well into the fall while helping out the Raleigh community and some local Triangle charities. With events this month ranging from adventure races to a kids triathalon, there’s an active event in the Triangle for everyone this September.
Animal lover? Help out the SPCA of Wake County by participating in the Buttons 5k – half of your proceeds will be donated to help the SPCA house and take care of pets without a home. This event is open to all ability levels, and you have the options to run or walk the course.

Join the 12th annual Gail Parkins Ovarian Cancer Walk & 5k Run and help fund ovarian cancer research. With your ticket price, you get breakfast, lunch, a T-shirt, and some gift card give-aways from Omega Sports! The 2-mile walk is open to anyone, including strollers, children and dogs! Proceeds raised go to Duke University Medical Center to help support their research.

Get 3 events for the price of one! Event 1 is a Competitive Mile race featuring some of the fastest in the state. Event 2 is a Recreational Mile which is open for those who prefer to walk or jog. Event 3 is for children 12 and under and features a 100 & 400 meter dash – a great day of events for the whole family!

Help out a child in need this school year by participating in the Fill My Backpack 5k! All proceeds go towards helping over 470 needy children in Durham County get enough food for the weekend. Many of these children rely on free and reduced school lunches to get them the nutrition they need – this program makes sure that they get enough over the weekend as well.
