- Starting at St. Timothy’s School on Six Forks Road, the out-and-back course winds through the neighborhoods of North Hills and eventually returns to the school.
- The event also includes a one-mile fun run, which will take place before the 5K.

- Carrie Shoemaker graduated from Duke University with a B.S.E. in 2000. She was part of the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps at Duke and upon graduation, entered the U.S. Navy. In 2001, she was killed by a drunk driver. Duke NROTC hosts this 5K Race every year in her honor, and donates the proceeds to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).
